St John's Church, Birkdale

Are you new to the church or the area?  If so, you are very welcome! Why not pop along and meet us on a Sunday morning?  We would love to see you.

We aim to be a God centred, relationship driven and life transforming church in Birkdale.

We are a group of ordinary people who believe that church is a great place to make friends and encounter God together.  We are a family who believe that church should not only be welcoming but also a place where lives are radically transformed by Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit.

We strive to be a church where people feel at home, know they matter, grow in their faith and where they feel confident to invite others. We look forward to meeting you.

Welcome from our vicar:

Jennie Hardy

Rev Jennie Hardy

After now being in post here at St John's for 8 months I'm beginning to find my bearings of the local area as well as finding all of the wonderful (not weird, honest) things of church! I'm really excited by what God is doing at our church.  I believe that as we continue to turn our eyes to Jesus, worshipping Him, trusting Him in all we do, hope and pray for, while focussing on building the Kingdom of God here in Birkdale, He will build His church. We're a great community here at St John's, why not join us for worship on Sundays at 10.30am or at one of our mid-week groups or social events? You’d be very welcome!

Planning your Visit

A Warm Welcome to St John's

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. When you arrive you can be assured of a warm welcome.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits at the end of the service. It is a great way to meet people. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcomers know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a toilet accessible to wheelchair users in the hall.

Our Service

The service begins at 10.30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members and we give thanks to God for the good news we have to share. Following this we have a family song, encouraging children involvement in leading our actions! During our services we try to have a balance of traditional, modern and new worship. One of our leaders will then give a bible based talk that we can apply to our everyday life.  After that, we sing again before a time of prayer which will be led by the leader. We then finish with a final worship song. The whole service lasts around an hour and we stay for ‘proper’ coffee and biscuits!

What about my children?

Children stay with their parent or grown-up, we have areas at the back and front of church with toys, beanbags and crafts. There are baby changing facilities in the hall  We love having children in our services, they are valued members of our church.
